Good morning to all 228 readers. A short and (really) early email today, for reasons you'll soon see. Even with just a handful of these letters left, I needed an extra morning off. I'll be back again Friday to start wrapping up. —Jack
Today's challenge: Take a personal day.
Just because you're working from home doesn't mean you can't—and shouldn't—call in. Taking breaks while on the clock isn't the same as being off the clock. Heed this reminder from Neil Webb:
"You are not working from home; you are at your home during a crisis trying to work."
With work encroaching on your home life and space, there has never been a more important time to reassert the personal. If you're unable to take an entire day, make it an afternoon. If you're unable to do it this day, try to do it soon.
Remember: These might be the most extraordinary circumstances that you have ever lived through. Take all the time that you need.
