🥟❄️ January 2025: Q1 Goals
Dumplings! In between family time for the holidays I’ve been planning for the quarter ahead. An organization I’ve been consulting with does something they call a 10-3-1-3. It tracks nicely with my Building Beauty work and my experience with the 12 Week Year; you come up with a long-term vision (10 years), a mid-term one (3 years), a shorter-term one (1 year), and use those to help your prioritize your near-term projects (3 months), so as to take a step toward the 10-year.
Applied personally, it means asking the question: what will my life look like when I’m 51? When I’m 44? Or in January 2026, when Rufus is a year and a half old? It’s a multi-day process, helped along by multiple walks and sauna sweats.
For the next twelve weeks, my primary goals, in no particular order, are:
1. Tidy the garage and turn it into an inspiring workshop.
I’ve been back and forth on having woodworking space in the basement versus our detached garage, but with a baby in the house, it’s decided for me. I need to isolate sound (the baby from sawing, and me from baby (love him to death, but it’s hard to concentrate when I can hear animal noises coming from his toy instruments)).
So: garage it is.
